This book is poorly written, poorly formatted, poorly laid out. that said, there are some good things (else he gets 1 star) but they are few and far between and almost not worth searching for. Mostly a self-aggrandizing tome to himself. Not worth the money or your time as he makes the reading of it fairly painful.
This tends to lessen with time and experience. No one wants to be sold, but everyone likes to buy. Work against this natural tendency. Get the details right, but always stay focused on the big picture.
Here are my favorites from that list:Have a contagious positive attitude. It ends with a list of the top ten qualities of a very successful salesperson, in her opinion. No one wants to know about your new BMW, your trip to the Riviera or your country club membership. The buyer can always justify their choice.Don't just be book smart.
Which makes better friendships.Have unspoken integrity and be visibly honest. Work to see what's in it for them and the rest should flow more easily.Be self-assured, but not arrogant. I'd rather be puked on.at least that's an accident. But confidence.that's always welcome.I like people and they like me. I found this to be most valuable reading.
Would you rather be professional or humorous. Which do you think sells more. This is my definition of authenticity. If you don't have it, your customers will see right through you.and you won't sell them on anything unless you are the cheapest. If they don't like you, they will choose your competitor. Whatever attitude you have will be contagious, so make sure it is a positive one.Be excited about the prospect of helping others. Don't get bogged down.Channel your inner kid and be able to see things through that kid's perspective.
People buy from those that they like. This never fails. Kids are full of wonder and possibility. Read, exercise, study, practice, write, speak, surround yourself with people that are vested in your success.Melanie Morris, Sales Executive, mmmdallas@yahoo.com
#3 and 4 CDs could not be played on the computer.Note: This has nothing to do with Gitomer's content which is great(I have read the book). It is strictly the poor grade of CD that did not allow me to play it on my computer. I had my IT person try to get both of them to work but it didn't happen.
Jeffrey is passionate about sales and helping people succeed in this field. His experience is vast, and he is able to communicate his message from street level; nothing esoteric of overly sophisticated. Just good old-fashioned common sense. A must-have for every serious salespersons library.
this book is one of the best sales books I have read. It's plain language is right on and it covers the most important aspects of the real sales world.
